Anatomy of a Tapestry: Techniques, Materials, Care By Jean Pierre Larochette and Yadin Larochette, with illustrations by Yael Lurie

A team of tapestry artists collaborated to produce this important resource for tapestry weaving and tapestry weavers.

Jean Pierre Larochette, born in Argentina, grew up in the Aubusson weaving tradition. Yael Lurie, a trained painter and cartonier, grew up in a kibbutz in Israel.

When the two arrived in the US in the late 1970s, they founded the San Francisco Tapestry Workshop, modeled on European traditions, which revived tapestry weaving in the late part of the 20th century.

Their daughter Yadin Larochette started weaving tapestries at the age of 6, then trained in weaving, art history, and art conservation.

Their book provides excellent woven examples with clear illustrations of each technique, along with notes on finishing, display, and storage.
